On July 9, students and faculty members presented their research at the Innovation in Action Student Showcase to an audience of incoming students, faculty, staff and visiting leadership. With over 200 attendees, the exchange of ideas sparked creativity and synergy across campus. The research topics covered a wide range of areas, including intelligence and national security, wireless communication, space technologies, advanced materials and radiation effects and command and control systems.
The Emerging Technology Showcase on the afternoon of July 11 provided a platform for NPS students and faculty to network and explore research and innovation collaborations with industry. Companies such as NVIDIA, AT&T, HII, Lockheed Martin, Qualcomm, RTX, Additec, Saronic, Trustpoint, and Viasat participated. The areas of research and collaboration included advanced manufacturing, 5G, digital engineering, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and digital twins, autonomous vehicles, GPS and resilient satellite communication networks.
Both showcases aimed to foster connections and inspire innovative thinking among new students as they begin their studies and select their thesis and capstone project topics. The Naval Postgraduate School Foundation is coordinating with the NPS Office of Research & Innovation and the Dean of Students to hold a showcase every other quarter.
The showcases are the first events hosted by the NPS Foundation that align with the recently signed Partnership Intermediary Agreement between the NPS Foundation and the Naval Postgraduate School. The agreement enables the Foundation to provide direct support to NPS in new and greater ways, focused on supporting the innovation ecosystem and the Naval Innovation Center through tech partnership, enhanced corporate engagement and STEM outreach.
