The Naval Postgraduate School Innovation in Action Emerging Tech and Student Showcase on January 21 brought together more than 25 industry partners with over 150 NPS students and faculty members to explore collaborative opportunities that address key operational challenges.
The Tech & Student Showcase enabled NPS faculty and students to engage with industry partners, learn about ways to leverage technologies to support and advance research activities, and explore the wide variety of possibilities for a thesis or capstone project.
Industry members from across defense primes, major tech companies, and startups demoed and displayed critical emerging technologies in artificial intelligence, autonomy, space, modeling and simulation, and wireless network capabilities. Companies such as NVIDIA, AT&T, RTX, Lockheed Martin, Qualcomm, Dell Technologies, Anduril, Circle Protocol, Ocean Power Technologies, Firestorm Labs, Aetherflux, General Atomics, 8VC and many more presented a variety of opportunities to collaborate and move national security solutions to the field faster.
The event also aimed to foster connections and inspire innovative thinking among new students as they begin their studies and select their thesis and capstone project topics. Current students presented their research work, providing an opportunity for both new and current students to discover current research across all disciplines at NPS. NPS organizations, such as the Modeling, Virtual Environments and Simulations (MOVES) Department and the Joint Interagency Field Experimentation (JIFX), were also onsite driving synergy between the NPS community and our industry partners.
The NPS Foundation is coordinating with the NPS Office of Research & Innovation and the Dean of Students to hold a showcase every other quarter. The next Emerging Tech & Student Showcase will be on July 24, 2025.
The Naval Postgraduate School Foundation hosted the showcase under the auspices of a Partner Intermediary Agreement with NPS. The agreement enables the Foundation to provide direct support to NPS to build a culture of innovation and enable the Naval Innovation Center through tech scouting, tech transfer, enhanced corporate engagement, and STEM outreach.
